Who We are

We are a community of people formed around the good news of Jesus Christ— brought together for worship, mutual encouragement, and good deeds.  As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (P.C.A.), our beliefs are best summarized in two historic statements of faith: The Apostles’ Creed and The Westminster Confession of Faith.

The Apostles' Creed

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried:
He descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From there he shall come
to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit;
the holy universal Church;
The communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
The resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We’re so glad you’re considering joining us for our worship time. When you arrive and park, you’ll be greeted at the door and handed a bulletin, which has all the parts of our worship in it. Once inside, feel free to sit anywhere (there’s no ‘assigned’ seats!) and grab some coffee and donuts/muffins. As you might expect, there will be some music, some prayer, some readings (the congregation, if you’re wondering and want to join in, reads the words in bold print) and some teaching about Jesus and what difference he makes. Feel free to participate actively in our worship or to just listen and observe.

  • We believe that the gospel of Jesus is just as much good news for kids as it is for adults, and because of that we welcome all children in our worship service. We provide a weekly children’s bulletin designed to help them participate in an age-appropriate way.

    We have a nursery available for infants and crawlers for the duration of the service. Children through 3rd grade are invited to attend Children’s Worship—the children are sent out with a blessing before the sermon. However, you will not be compelled for your child to participate in this, and they are more than welcome to participate in the entire worship service.

    All of our volunteers with Children have been received criminal back-ground checks and have been vetted by church leadership.

  • Clothes! There is no official or unofficial dress code. The majority of the congregation is dressed casually, but if you like to dress up you won’t be alone.

  • Our worship is a time when we join together to meet with God, who is present with us by his Word and Spirit. For this reason, our worship is structured like the conversation that it is: he speaks and we respond in song and prayer. Our music includes songs from a wide range of backgrounds including ancient hymns and modern music. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every week.

  • Lord’s Supper/Communion is a sacrament: a place where Jesus has told us we can always find him, and a way that he gives us the grace of God.

    It’s called the “Lord’s Supper” because Jesus himself established it for his disciples and instructed them to continue the practice. Taking bread and wine and calling it his body and blood, Jesus was telling his followers that what he was accomplishing in his life, death, and resurrection was something they are meant to internalize and be nourished by.

    It’s called “communion” because it is a time where we respond to the welcome given to us by Jesus to reach out, take, and receive him and what he has done for us. It always follows the sermon, and is the climax of our time of worship

  • We participate every week with a gluten-free/dairy-free option for bread, and a wine/grape juice option for the cup. Christians from any denomination are invited to participate in communion—it’s the Lord’s Table, not ours.

    When invited, we walk to the front of the sanctuary to receive the bread and the cup. Regardless, we always give clear instructions, and you can watch those around if you’re not sure what to do. When coming forward for communion, we form a line. First you will receive your bread, either a pre-torn piece or a gluten-free/diary-free option that is sealed and prepared separately from the common loaf. Then you will receive either wine or grape juice in a small, individual cup (take either, neither is more ‘spiritual’ than the other). Take your bread and cup back to your seat, and we will partake together once everyone has been served. If you are unsteady on your feet or need assistance, simply wave down those serving, who are looking out for anyone who may want to participate but cannot wait in the line.

    If you have not placed your faith in Jesus for salvation, or you are fleeing from him as Lord and Savior, please refrain from participating in the Lord’s Supper. We do not want you to do anything that is not true to where you are spiritually. But please do not harden your heart to the call of God to come to him.

  • A: The doors of our church are open as wide as the doors of the kingdom of God. It’s his kingdom, not ours.

    We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). This doesn’t make us better than anyone else, and no one needs to be a presbyterian or to even know what that means to worship with us.

    The pastoral leadership of our church is ordained with the PCA, which gives us connection to other local churches, accountability for our leadership, and opportunities to partner with missionaries and organizations around the world.

    To learn more about the PCA you can visit our denominational magazine, By Faith

  • It’s a simple name that tells us a profound thing: that church is supposed to be about Jesus Christ and what God has accomplished through him. We desire to be a community that is centered on this in every part of who we are.

    There are other organizations, churches, and even cities worldwide named ‘Christ Church’ and our choice of this name is not meant to imply any affiliation.

  • No. We’re honored to have you among us and expect nothing in return. When our community does give money, it supports the church’s pastors, staff, and ministries as well as local and global ministries we support.
